Lake Tinaroo is more than a supply of water, it is a supply of fun for anyone who enjoys the water. The lake has low winds, making it ideal for watersports such as sailing, stand up paddle boarding, waterskiing, and light sailing. It is also a place to soak in the scenery or go bird watching.
There are several locations to visit Lake Tinaroo, this one is near the historical township of Yungaburra at the same site where the Afghanistan Avenue of Honour can be found.
The area is set up well for spending the day with several BBQ and picnic shelters near, toilets, and a playground to keep the children entertained. For accompanying adults not interested in the lake activities, it is the Avenue of Honour is what had brought us here.
There is a boat ramp for launching your watercraft. Fishing is said to be world-class with Barramundi growing to large sizes with no natural predators – no crocodiles. The world record Barramundi was caught here, measuring 121 centimetres and weighing a hefty 38.75 kilograms.
The Lakeside Motor Inn and Caravan Park is right next to the park area if you want to stay longer than the day. If you prefer something different, there are several accommodation options available in the Yungaburra area .
