Wunburra Lookout is the first brown sign tourist destination entering into the Springbrook Mountain area, at the southern end of a split section of the road. Wunburra is an Aboriginal word meaning “run up hill – hunting dog”
The view from is from a platform built to the edge of the hillside. The lookout is across the Little Nerang Dam, and up the valley to the open flats across to the Gold Coast.
The parking area for the lookout is a just passed the lookout. The parking area has a visitor information centre where you can get some information before continuing on to the many destination spots in this beautiful area.
The visitor information centre is only open for a few hours at weekends and on public holidays, between 10am and 2pm. There is a board with brochures and basic information and maps around the area on the veranda if you are there outside those hours. It gives a good starting point to plan the rest of your time in Springbrook Mountains if you haven’t already done so.
There are no facilities here. If you need toilets, Apple Tree Park
is not too far further along, about 700m.
