A section of the Serpentine Creek has been converted to form the Natural Heritage & Water Park. The development of the water park is a result of the closure of Boobera Lagoon 
, to power boats, on indigenous cultural grounds. The Lagoon had been a favourite spot for waterskiing for the local area and was the only suitable waterbody for the purpose.
The main activity seemed to be power boats, which is understandable due the purpose of the water park being built. Naturally, there is a boat ramp to get your boat in and out of the water.
There is a dedicated swimming area, handy for boatless people and those who want a break or forced to have a break to let others in their family to have a go. The vast open grass area provides plenty of opportunity for games and fun on land as well. The temperatures were well into the 40s while we were there so activities around the water seemed to be the main preference.
The facilities include toilets and hot showers, which would be more appreciated during the cooler days. Picnic tables with shelters and gas barbeques provide all you need to make a full day if you want to.
There are walking trails that follows mostly along the water. I started walking later in the afternoon, which was more comfortable with the high temperatures we were having but ran out of light before returning. It did make for some great sunset photos and saw a lot of kangaroo wildlife becoming active – possibly with the same thoughts on lower temperatures.
